Teen Volunteering

Hands Raised Volunteering IconVolunteers

While the library strives to provide volunteer opportunities for teens, there is no guarantee that teens will be able to complete a set number of hours at any given time. Therefore if you are required to complete community service hours within a certain time, it is recommended that you seek other volunteer opportunities.

Teen Advisory Group

Our Teen Advisory Group is an opportunity to earn community service while helping to plan future teen and children's events, decorate the children's are, and more. Sometimes we brainstorm, sometimes we prepare crafts or clean. Each meeting is unique. New members are always welcome.

Once you are a member for TAG, you will be added to a list and asked about other volunteer opportunities that come up.

Teen Advisory Group is currently meeting every 3-4 months virtually. The next meeting will be Monday, December 14 at 7 PM. You can sign up beginning December 1 on our online calendar.

Book Buddies

Nicole is looking to create a virtual Book Buddies program. In this program you would read to and be read to by children in Kindergarten -3rd grade. This is a great opportunity if you love kids. Please fill our our interest form here and Nicole will be in touch with you.

Cards for Hospitalized Kids

You can sign up for this opportunity on Monday, November 30 via our online calendar. Card paper, and some basic craft supplies will be provided. (Crayons, colored pencils, paint will not be provided). Pick up your supplies Monday, December 7 - Thursday, December 10 at curbside pick up. Then return your finished cards to the library the following week at Curbside.

Social Justice Service Club

Nicole is working with some other YA librarians to form a social justice club. Our first meeting is Saturday, December 12 at 11 AM. Meet likeminded individuals and discuss issues important to you. Plan future activities. You'll earn community service for attending. This club is open to high school students (grades 9-12). Sign up to attend the first meeting.

Summer Volunteering

Summer volunteering has been an exciting part of the Burlington Public Library. We will make a determination about volunteering during summer 2021 closer to summer.
