While the library strives to provide volunteer opportunities for teens, there is no guarantee that teens will be able to complete a set number of hours at any given time. Therefore if you are required to complete community service hours within a certain time, it is recommended that you seek other volunteer opportunities.
Teen Advisory Group
Our Teen Advisory Group is an opportunity to earn community service while helping to plan future teen and children's events, decorate the children's are, and more. Sometimes we brainstorm, sometimes we prepare crafts or clean. Each meeting is unique. New members are always welcome.
Once you are a member for TAG, you will be added to a list and asked about other volunteer opportunities that come up.
Teen Advisory Group is currently meeting every 3-4 months virtually. The next meeting will be Monday, March 8 at 7 PM. You can sign up beginning March 1 on our online calendar.
Nicole is looking to create a virtual Book Buddies program. In this program you would read to and be read to by children in Kindergarten -3rd grade. This is a great opportunity if you love kids. Please fill our our interest form here and Nicole will be in touch with you.
Social Justice Service Club
Nicole is working with some other YA librarians to form a social justice club. Meet likeminded individuals and discuss issues important to you. Plan future activities. You'll earn community service for attending. This club is open to high school students (grades 9-12). Our next meeting is Saturday, January 16 at 11 AM. Sign up here.
Summer volunteering has been an exciting part of the Burlington Public Library. We will make a determination about volunteering during summer 2021 closer to summer.
