Henna for Teens
Friday, October 9th from 3-5:30
Have you seen someone with Henna art, and wanted to take part? Well, here's your chance! Come in for a free henna tattoo at the Burlington Public Library on Friday, October 9th. Henna is all natural (chemical free) and is not permanent. You can make an appointment by calling the Youth Services at 781.270.1692 or stop by the Youth Services Desk while you're at the library.
Teen Game Day
Friday, October 16th from 4-6:00
It's Game Day at the Burlington Public Library! Anyone in grades 6th-12th is welcome to drop by anytime between 4-6PM for food and fun. Game Day will include a Wii (Wii Sports, Mario Kart, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games) as well as board games. Feel free to bring friends and any games you would like to play. Teen Halloween Movie Matinee: The Ring
Friday, October 30th from 3-5:30
Up for a Halloween Treat? Anyone in grades 6 through 12 are welcome to come in for popcorn, a movie, and some Halloween candy! Of course a scary movie is in order. This month's movie is The Ring starring Naomi Watts and Martin Henderson. Remember any teen movie that is shown is rated PG-13- if you are under 13 we need a guardian's permission for you to see the movie!

Anyone in grades 6 through 12 are welcome to come in for popcorn and a movie! This month's selection is the movie Baby Mama starring Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. Remember any teen movie that is shown is rated PG-13- if you are under 13 we need a guardian's permission to see the movie!

Poetry Workshop

Get creative by attending a beginner’s poetry workshop. No experience is required. All those who sign up by Friday, July 31st will receive a free book of poetry.
Open Mic Night / Gallery Event
Friday, August 7th
3:00 to 6:00pm
It’s time for you to express your creativity! All artists, crafters, sculptors, and photographers are invited to display their work for a gallery reception that starts at 3:00. At 4:00 readers and musicians are welcomed to recite favorite passages and poems– or perform their own original writings or songs! Those interested in showing at the gallery must be signed up by Monday, August 3rd so that space can be worked out, readers and musicians can sign up during the Open Mic portion on a first come first serve basis. Coffee and baked goods will be provided!
Graphic Novel and Manga Bagel and Book Talk

It’s okay – Book Talks are very relaxed. It’s simply sharing books that you have read, and listening to others about books they have read. It’s a great place to pick up titles that might sound interesting! Bagels and coffee will be provided.
Summer Reading Ends: Genre Party

4:00 to 6:00pm
Celebrate the end of summer reading with some pizza and a few raffles – one book from each genre will be raffled off (only those who attend are eligible for book raffle). Also the grand prize winner of “Find What’s Out There @ Your Library” will be chosen at 5:30! (You do not have to attend to be the winner of the grand prize.) All those who wish to enter for the grand prize drawing must complete their Genre game card by Thursday, August 13th by the end of the day at 9 pm

Game Day: Wii Sports

3:30 to 6:00pm
Get out of the heat for a sports themed Wii day! Test out your Wii skills with a little friendly competition. Pair up with a partner for a double elimination tournament– there will be prizes awarded. Rules will be provided during game day – there will be signs up starting at the Summer Reading Kick Off. All teams must be signed up by Monday, July 6th to enter. Sports related drink and food will be provided!
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

It has finally come! Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released in theaters on Wednesday, July 15th. Celebrate Fantasy Week by catching up with Harry and friends for a showing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Popcorn will be provided!

Come on in for a movie marathon! Check out some horror movie favorites – you’ll get to vote for what you watch when you sign up! Stay for one showing or stay for all – it’s all up to you! Pizza and popcorn will be provided. Sign-ups will begin at the Summer Reading Kickoff and will end on Monday, July 20th.

Summer Reading Kickoff: Teen Ice Cream Social
Monday, June 22nd
6:30-8:30pm
Get the summer started with a cool treat! Ice cream sundaes will be given to those teens who sign up for summer reading on June 22nd. Information about programs, prizes, and eligibility for “Find What’s Out There @ Your Library” will be handed out, and laptops will be available for those who would like the sign up for the online summer reading program.
Build a Water-Powered Bottle Rocket
Thursday, June 25th
1:30 to 3:30pm
Use your skills to build a bottle rocket out of an empty 2 liter bottle – all materials will be included as well as complete instructions on how to build. Be sure to enter your rocket in the Rocket Launch Competition held on Monday, June 29 starting at 1:00 at the Human Services Field (behind the Burlington Recreation Building).

For those who want to sew and don't know how-come and learn! There will be brief tutorials on how to hand sew as well as using a sewing machine. This month's project: make your own tote bag. Materials will be included - but if you have an old t-shirt you don't use anymore or some material hanging around bring it in.
